Initial Russian Air Expedition To China Starts

MOSCOW — Three military and three civilian planes started Wednesday from the Trotsky aerodrome on Russia’s first great air expedition to China. The flight, covering 5,000 miles, must cross the treacherous Gobi desert with its varying wind currents which are difficult to gauge. Premier Rikov bade the aviators farewell, hoping the expedition would prove valuable as showing Russian progress in technique and serve as a link between the soviet union and China.
