An inquest was held this morning by W. L. Penn, acting coroner, upon the body of 2d Lieut. Murdock, of Co. G, 63d Ohio Regiment, found dead in his room, at the City Hotel. Deceased was in the battle of Cedar Mountain, and had returned to this place sick. For some time past his Colonel represents he has been very low spirited, expressing a desire to be killed in battle, and last night, about 9 o’clock, he shot himself through the head with a pistol, the ball passing through his right temple, and it is supposed causing death immediately. The jury of inquest rendered a verdict that deceased came to his death from a pistol shot by his own hands, while suffering from great debility.
