October 17, 1862 – From the Vermont Regiments

The Third Regiment is in camp near Hagerstown, Maryland. The Tenth is doing picket duty on the Potomac river nearly opposite Drainsville. Occassionally they get a pop at the rebels who come down to the river, but as yet they have done no fighting. A correspondent tells in another column where the Eleventh is and what it is doing. The Twelfth, Col Blunt, which left Brattleboro last week on Tuesday, was in camp near Washington on Saturday. The Thirteenth, Col Randall, left Brattleboro on Saturday last for Washington. The Fourteenth, Fifteenth and Sixteenth regiments are now in camp at Brattleboro. The Fifteenth, Col Proctor, will probably leave for the seat of war next week on Thursday.
