November 18, 1862 – Notice to Paroled Prisoners

Headquarters U. S. Paroled Forces,
Columbus, Ohio, Nov. 17, 1862.
Speclal Order No. 110.

All officers, non-commissioned officer and privates, who have been paroled and ordered to report at Camp Chase, or Camp Lew Wallace, and who are absent from duty, whether with or without leave, are hereby commanded forthwith to report at the last mentioned camp.

An exchange of prisoners having been agreed to between the United States and the so-called Confederate States, all paroled prisoners ordered to either of the above camps will be speedily sent forward to their old regiments.

Officers neglecting to obey this order promptly will be reported to the Secretary of War, with a recommendation that they be dishonorably dismissed the service. Non commissioned officers and privates who shall fail to report in obedience to this order, will be punished by court martial by withholding their pay or otherwise according to the character and aggravation of their respective offenses.
