June 11, 1863 – Construction At The Portsmouth Navy Yard

We learn from the Portsmouth (N. H.), Chronicle that the Navy Yard at that place has turned out nine government steamers since the commencement of the rebellion, as follows: the Kearsarge, carrying 7 guns and of 1031 tons burthen; the Ossipee 9 guns, 1240 tons; the Sebago 6 guns, 832 tons; the Mahaska, 6 guns, 832 tons; the Sacramento, 9 guns, 1367 tons; the Sonoma, 6 guns, 995 tons; the Conemaugh, 8 guns, 955 tons; the Sassacus, 8 guns, 974 tons; and the Patuxet, 8 guns 974 tons.
