100 Passengers Transferred at Woods Hole
Engine trouble forced the New Bedford Line steamer Uncatena to abandon her usual Tuesday evening run to Marthas’ Vineyard Island, near Woods Hole. She was carrying about 100 passengers who were bound for the Island. They were transferred to the automobile ferry Pequot.
The trouble was located soon after the boat left the Woods Hole dock at 7 p.m., and she anchored outside the harbor, being towed back by two boats from the Coast Guard Base. An examination of the ship showed that the main shafting had cracked. She will be taken to Newport, R. I, for repairs.
