May 5, 1861 – Maryland Coming Around

Maryland is certainly coming around. The Secessionists yesterday made a bold push to get their Safety Committee business through the Senate; but they failed, and the Union men think it will fail altogether. The work of rebuilding the railroad bridges goes on briskly, without interruption; and there is good reason to think that all will yet be well, at least outside of Baltimore.
