A Cavalry Engagement In Kentucky

Louisville, October 6—The following is from the headquarters of the first division of cavalry near Dunlap, dated October 3d: Colonel Edward M. McCook, with the 1st Wisconsin and 2d Indiana cavalry, attacked Wheeler’s force of four thousand at Anderson’s Cross Roads yesterday, and whipped them badly, killing and wounding one hundred and twenty, taking several prisoners, recapturing all the Government property, including eight hundred mules and the prisoners taken from our train. Among the prisoners taken is a Major on Wheeler’s staff, commander of his escort, a Major on General Martin’s staff, Colonel Russell and nine other officers. The enemy was routed and driven ten miles.
