French Guns Quell Riffs Led By Beni

OUJIDA, April 29—(AP)—Tribes which have been dickering with French and Spanish for peace have opened hostilities, necessitating of French artillery reprisals. Several French soldiers were killed or wounded when the Riffians, lead by Beni Mestara, went on an offensive yesterday. Fire of the French artillery quelled the disorders. The Spanish occupied new positions in the Melilia sector.
